On a particularly dark, cold and late winter night, at the very edge of spring, Paolo and Tiziana were in Palermo with their grandfather Guglielmo and the whole family. In the city the festivities for the Solstice were being prepared and the people were animated by that confident euphoria that precedes great events, full of expectation for the blessing of the new harvest, the fruit of their hard work in the fields. They said that luck was coming to the city, so they illuminated the darkness with fires and the streets with the color and hypnotic perfumes of flowers.

The sky was the blackest of blacks and a light mist hid the children's steps as they ventured through the alleys between the baroque palaces to see the bonfires that illuminated the valley with long tongues of fire, their crackling breaking the disturbing silence that loomed over the city. His grandfather traced the outline of a constellation suspended in the heavens that is only visible on the darkest nights. Even on these rare occasions, the beautiful little-noticed stars of which it is composed are revealed only to the eyes of those truly experienced and patient observers who are willing to wait and recognize them. So too an artistic aroma is revealed only to those true connoisseurs who have the knowledge and soul to understand it!

The vault of the sky seemed like a black blanket that had enveloped, not swallowed, the entire Milky Way, but Guglielmo began skillfully to point out small luminous points that seemed distant at first but steadily grew in intensity, becoming more and more beautiful and mysterious as the children watched them. Lynx is, in fact, famous for being a constellation full of double stars, pulsing like a beacon in the night, sending signals to travelers and dreamers.

Wrapped in this dark sky, the scent of flowers spread on the streets for the festivities pulsed exuberantly and hypnotically, taking the children on a dream journey as if they were on the wings of the hippogriff that once lived here in Sicily.
